Seti River

Pokhara, in itself, is a fascinating place, and has so many touristic places that are worthy of visiting. The beauty and the calm surrounding of this valley are guaranteed to sweep off any one’s feet. With a huge tourist-attracting potential sites, the city takes its place as the second most important city in Nepal.

Among the best places here in Pokhara, Seti is the river which flows deeply down the earth from almost in the middle of Pokhara valley. The amazing fact about the river is that, in some places the broader part of the river is seen where in some places the river vanishes inside the land. The Seti originates from the snow fields and glaciers from the mountain. It has cut a spectacular gorge across the valley and also appears to be lost amongst caves and tunnels for a short distance.

The river has carved a deep, narrow chasm through the middle of town, turning the water milky white in the process. The best place to catch a glimpse of the Seti River is KI Singh bridge just north of Pokhara near the Gurkha Museum. The cool breeze and the awesome sight takes you further into the picturesque place where one can see all white water channelized flowing at full speed. The gentle waters spill down from the slopes of the Fishtail glacier and disappears underground near to Pokhara, emerging out warmer on the other side.

It is a fairly calm river and great for a two-day rafting with a number of easy rapids between Pokhara and Chitwan. This river may rage in the monsoon, making a four hour trip for the hardcore paddlers, also can be enjoyed by everyone and is also ideal for beginner kayakers as well.
