Overview

Mount Everest Expedition is the ultimate dream of all climbing enthusiasts and mountaineers all around the world. Mount Everest, with an altitude of 8,848 meters, being the highest mountain in the world, attracts climbers seeking to summit the highest point in the world. Every year many climbers try to summit Mount Everest; some manage to overcome the risk and challenges, make it up to the summit, and return successfully. Whereas, unfortunately, some cannot withstand the harsh weather conditions and other challenges and can’t make it to the summit.

Sir Edmund Hillary and Tenzing Norgay Sherpa were the first to ascent Everest in 1953. They summited through the South Col route, which is on the Nepal side, and this route is considered the standard route. Since then, the South Col Route is the most common path to summit Everest. Everest Expedition demands immense preparation, excellent physique, mental preparedness, discipline, and experience. It is going to test your physical strength as well as mental resilience.

Everest Expedition takes around 60-70 days with trekking that starts from Lukla. You take a scenic and adventurous flight from Kathmandu to Lukla. From Lukla, you trek through the Khumbu region and Sagarmatha National Park until you reach Everest Base Camp at 5,364 meters. You will trek through forests, rivers, and valleys, rugged terrain, picturesque villages, monasteries, prayer flags, and establish high-altitude camps. High up there, the air is thin with less oxygen and the weather conditions are extreme.

Begin the day with an acclimatization hike to Kalapathar (5,554m), a renowned viewpoint offering some of the best panoramas of Mount Everest and its surroundings. After descending back to Gorakshep, continue your trek to Everest Base Camp, where you’ll set up camp and begin the acclimatization process. This will be your home for the next few weeks as you prepare for the climb.

Over the next several weeks, you’ll undertake a gradual ascent, moving between high-altitude camps and returning to Base Camp multiple times to acclimatize. The camps include:

  • Camp 1 (6,065m): Located above the Khumbu Icefall, this camp marks the beginning of the climb proper.
  • Camp 2 (6,400m): Nestled in the Western Cwm, this camp serves as an advanced base for further acclimatization.
  • Camp 3 (7,200m): Positioned on the Lhotse Face, this camp presents technical challenges and requires careful pacing.
  • Camp 4 (7,950m): The final camp on the South Col, marking the launch point for the summit push.

The summit day is planned based on favorable weather, with a goal to reach the top between Days 45-55. The summit attempt requires climbing through the Balcony, the Hillary Step, and finally reaching the peak of Everest. Standing on top of the world at 8,848 meters is the culmination of weeks of effort, discipline, and endurance.
